Dinsos Akan Lebih Selektif Bantu Korban Banjir

Aid Distribution for Flood Victims will Be More Selective

Jakarta Social Department is ready to distribute aid for flood victims in the capital city. However, the distribution will be more selective than last year. And for flood victims whose houses hit submerged by flood as high as one meter or more, aid will arrive in three hours.

Jakarta Social Department is already able to open tents and prepare meals

“Jakarta Social Department is already able to open tents and prepare meals. But if the water level was only ankle-high, no need to give aid (for flood victims),” stated Jakarta Governor Basuki ‘Ahok’ T Purnama, Thursday (11/20).

For parties that look for advantage by asking assistance during rainy season, Ahok stressed that Jakarta Provincial Government will give them a lesson.

City Analyzes Flood-Prone Areas to Accelerate Flood Handling

“Every time flood hits, instant noodles and food come. We don’t want that anymore. As long as you can, go buy them outside. Besides, the flood is not happened for days. If flood only happened for 2-3 hours and you asked for aid, it can’t be like that again now,” he asserted.

In addition, Ahok also regretted the behavior of some people in the slums who intentionally make holes on the sheet piles. Because of such action, areas that were not hit by flood become flooded.

“The reason they did it is so they would be flooded as well when the water comes. That is outrageous,” he said.
